Are y’all ready for fiddler’s weekend?!?! I know we are!!! We will be serving food and drinks for the Billie Jo Jones kickoff concert at The Texan on Thursday night, and then we will have food and drinks for in-house or to go dining at The Texan on Friday and Saturday.

In addition to our standard menu, we our going to be highlighting the greatness of a good barbecue sandwich! Of course, we will have the standard options, but we will also have a number of specialty sandwiches, including the brisket cheesesteak, a turkey, bacon and pimento cheese grilled cheese, our smoked burgers, and our take on a brisket sloppy joe.

Friday, Friday, (EVERY) Friday = full barbecue lunch at The Texan!! We can’t wait to see our regulars and, hopefully, some new faces between 11 and 2 this Friday!

We will have all your standard favorites, plus our new Brisket French Dip sandwich, pork belly burnt ends, and our smoked jalapeño and pimento grilled cheese with either brisket or turkey and bacon.

I have 4 racks of St Louis style spare ribs left (2-traditional and 2 with apricot jalapeño glaze) … $30 a rack (about 2 lbs) to the first people to claim them! And before anyone claims otherwise, they came off the smoker about 2 hours ago!

Here’s your weekly reminder that we will be open

Here’s your weekly reminder that we will be open for lunch this Friday from 11-2 at The Texan in downtown Athens. As always, we will have our @goodstocktx brisket, @1855blackangusbeef “Dino” ribs, 2 different types of St Louis style pork ribs, plus some of the more fun stuff like brisket nachos or a brisket cheesesteak. If you have been, you know, and if you haven’t, you need to give us a try!

In addition to Friday, we will also be open at The Texan this Thursday, February 29th, from 11-3 for the taping of the Dumb Zone podcast. Dan McDowell and Jake Kemp (formerly of The Ticket in Dallas) will be doing their thing, and we will have food and bar available with some fun specials!

We are so excited to announce that we will be hosting a Dumb Zone remote show (Dan McDowell, Jake Kemp, and Blake Jones formerly of The Ticket in Dallas) on Thursday, February 29th, at The Texan in downtown Athens. The actual show should start around noon and be done around 3.

We have plenty of room, so let us know if you would like to come down for the show. We will have Smoky B Barbecue food and a full bar available!

If you haven’t been to Athens before, it is a very easy 69-mile drive southeast of downtown Dallas with very little traffic and some pretty sites (at least after you get past Seagoville).

The cold and rainy weather got Bill thinking about stew, so he made up a batch of @smokyb_bbq stew! It’s hearty with brisket and 3 other meats and plenty of veggies, and with a slight kick, it is definitely what you need to warm up on a cold, rainy night. You can order it by the quart for $16, or we will have it for lunch at @thetexanathens on Friday from 11 to 2. It’s only here until we sell out!

We’ve got a lot of fun stuff for y’all tomorrow, including (by request) our Cajun barbecue jambalaya, which will be made with a mix of brisket, sausage, pork tenderloin and turkey. We will also have, among other things, our smoked brisket burgers, brisket chili, barbecue stuffed potatoes, and Bill’s smoked jalapeño/pimento cheese to put on whatever you want.
